ELANA Technique: an animation
The animation illustrates the
Excimer
Laser
Assisted
Non-occlusive
Anastomosis technique, which is invented by Professor Tulleken from the University Medical Center (UMC) in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The ELANA technique, facilitates the construction of a bypass in the brain, without the need to occlude the recipient brain artery.
ELANA
ELANA stands for Excimer Laser Assisted Non-occlusive Anastomosis. An anastomosis is the medical term for connecting blood vessels. The ELANA technique is used to create bypasses without closing the main bloodstream (non-occlusive). The ELANA technique is used by neurosurgeons in medical centers around the world as the only solution for several terminal indications. Elana bv markets and develops the ELANA technique and all related Elana medical devices that allow surgeons to perform the only non-occlusive anastomosis technique currently available. New products that are currently under investigation will make the technique less invasive and much easier to perform. New treatments for indications in neurosurgery but also in vascular and cardiac surgery are expected as a result of the current studies and research.
